My kids loooooooove Machida Academy! They've been attending for 6 months and it's been a great extracurricular for them, learning discipline and technique. The 1 hr classes are structured with two senseis teaching skills but also sprinkling play into it. My boys always end the class on a high note, smiling and saying they wanna come back again the next day. MKA cultivates a sense of kindness and a welcoming atmosphere. I love that the classes are affordable. It's worth every penny.

This school has everything I have been looking for in a martial arts school and aligns perfectly with my personal goals. All of the instructors and staff are very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and have the experience to back up what they teach. The curriculum is a perfect combination of traditional martial arts with evolved and newer practical techniques. After every class, I feel like I achieved an excellent workout for my mind, body, and spirit. I am impressed with all the of the Machida instructors' teaching methods and strategies. I also recently enrolled my son into the 4-6 year old class and appreciate how they are able to engage the young students with karate and also incorporate fun games that will improve coordination, balance, and awareness. The facility itself is always clean and the environment is very family friendly where everyone helps each other. Machida Karate is great for people of all ages.

I've been practicing martial arts for over 27 years and I still learn something new in every practice at Machida Academy. It is a beautiful, clean and professional facility that is the perfect blend of traditional and modern technique. The depth of knowledge and ability of the instructors is matched by their humility and warmth. This is a world class facility for serious martial artists as well as newcomers and their families to train in a clean and safe environment with knowledgeable and friendly instructors. Soon after I started I signed up both my kids and they are having a blast while learning real and effective techniques. I drive an hour from home to each practice, because I've trained at other places closer to me and found that I was sacrificing quality for convenience. My family and I count ourselves very lucky to train here and I can't recommend Machida Academy highly enough!

Building is very nice and well maintained but parking is very difficult.
Instructors are very good and patient especially with kids. Many of the instructors are UFC champions so they are very well qualified in martial arts, but still maintain patience with kids and know how to talk with them appropriately.
The class schedule is also flexible and if you can't make a class you can attend a different one another day in the week.

My experience training at Machida Karate was nothing short of Legendary. I have a lot of experience in martial arts (Kempo Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, BJJ) but I started in Karate.
This was an awesome way to get back to my Karate roots. I was able to attend the fundamentals and advanced classes and had an absolute blast doing so.
I’m a huge fan of the Machida family, and learning from Chinzo had me starstruck.
I’ll definitely be back!!! And on the off chance I ever move to California I know where I’ll be!

My 2 kids started from ages 6 and 10, they are now 12 and 16, my son is now assisting the classes and the instructors/senseis have all been such great mentors. My son would not be who he is today if we hadn’t found this dojo. Both their grades are As, they are so respectful/respected, responsible, kind, caring, and so mature. I can’t thank our senseis enough, they are the nicest people you will ever meet, but still strict, but full of love, they really care about each and every one of their students. And my son is the same, he will take anyone under his wings and help the best he can to get to the next belt, the next goal, the next step even if baby steps. It’s not easy to continue to improve yourself every day it takes a lot of work, discipline and dedication. It’s not cheap, but it is priceless, my kids will take the learnings all throughout their lives. You don’t have to go just for the belt, the color is not what determines you- it’s how you improve yourself, stay fit and learn skills to defend yourself and feel good about yourself, regardless of what belt you are. And teaching children values that is beyond any belt color.
