ADULT FUNDAMENTALS

MACHIDA KARATE ADULT FUNDAMENTAL PROGRAM

Prerequisite: ages 16 and up. No experience required.

The program teaches the most essential Karate techniques and covers self-defense for common situations.

Topics include footwork, strikes, kicks, blocks, grappling fundamentals, and self-defense techniques.

Students will see improvement physically (cardio, endurance, etc.), motivation, confidence and will be engaged in the Machida Karate system.

Chinzo Machida

MACHIDA KARATE HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Chinzo Machida is the coach who helped put Karate on the map in world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He coached his brother, Lyoto Machida, to great success. Lyoto became the heavyweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2009.

With over 35 years of experience and knowledge, Chinzo Machida is a decorated Shotokan Karate competitor in Brazil, a professional MMA coach, and a former professional MMA fighter. He fought for Bellator MMA, Karate Combat and RFA.

Chinzo is passionate about teaching Karate. He strives to cultivate character, skills, and community through the Art of Karate.

He currently oversees the Machida Academy Headquarters in Lomita, CA, Machida Virtual Dojo, Machida Association, and professional Karate MMA team. He is also one of the main instructors.
